My kids have recently discovered Arby’s Roast Beef and they’re slightly obsessed.
We don’t eat out often, usually just when we’re traveling, and even then I try to pack picnics. But when we do eat out, they’re always requesting Arby’s.
So I got to wondering if I could make Arby’s at home.
The answer is yes.
Is the fast food version better? I mean, yeah, because deep frying and whatnot, but this is a really close approximation that really hits the spot!
The best part? It’s actually pretty easy - the meat is pre-packaged deli meat heated up - so you really just need to make buns (or buy them) and make the sauce. Easy Peasy!

Super Soft 45 Minute Hamburger Buns
Butter
3.5 ounces ultra thinly sliced roast beef
Copycat Arby’s Sauce (see below)
Slice the hamburger buns and butter the cut sides and toast over medium heat in a skillet or griddle.
Heat a small pot of water to a simmer. Add the roast beef and cook for 30 seconds or to warm through. Remove the beef to a paper towel lined tray, just long enough to remove excess water.
Place the beef onto a toasted bun, then top with Copycat Arby’s Sauce.
Copycat Arby’s Sauce
Adapted from CopyKat Recipes
½ cup ketchup
¼ cup cider vinegar
¼ cup worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
¾ teaspoon onion powder
¾ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
¼ teaspoon hot sauce
¼ teaspoon salt
Mix together all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Simmer for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool before using.
If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of water, if it is too thin, simmer longer to reduce the sauce.
