Bacon Cheeseburger Salad

Last summer, Hubs and I took the kids on an epic road trip to the East coast - 22 states in 14 days!  One of our stops (Spud’s choice) was the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.  It was his dream come true - he was one happy teen!

Afterward, we went out for lunch (I wish I remembered the restaurant name) and I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger Salad.  It was so good, I knew I wanted to replicate it at home!

The burger itself is straightforward, with burger sauce as the dressing and all those great burger toppings as salad toppings!  Simple, yet effective!

Main Dish Salads

Bacon Cheeseburger Salad

Burgers

1 pound ground beef

¼ cup breadcrumbs

1 egg

Salt & pepper

Dressing

¼ cup mayo

3 tablespoons ketchup

1 teaspoon pickle brine

½ teaspoon worcestershire sauce

¼ cup paprika

Pinch cayenne pepper

Salad

8 ounces salad greens

¼ pound bacon, booked crisp and crumbed

Pickle slices

Diced tomatoes, optional

Cheese slices

Tater tots, cooked crisp

Mix together the burger ingredients.  Form into patties and grill until well-done.

Meanwhile, mix together the dressing ingredients.

Split the salad greens among 4 plates and drizzle with dressing.  Place a piece of cheese on each burger and place a burger on each salad.  Add bacon, pickle slices and tater tots and serve.

  1. This looks filling and would feel slightly healthier as a salad. Can't wait to try this, Amy. Thanks for hosting this week. Also, I accidentally sent this as a question instead of posting as a comment. Sorry.

I just added that question form and realized that it was confusing on the bottom the page page - I moved it to the side bar!
