Here we are at the last minute for Food ‘n Flix again…
This month’s flicks were hosted by Kimberly at Coffee and Casseroles. Getting into the Halloween
spirit, she gave us two 90’s movie options: The Addams Family or The Addams
Family Values. And since they aired back
to back on TV, I watched both!
The Addams Family was pretty good but the Addams Family
Values was pure brilliance. Wednesday Addams
is my favorite character and she had a larger role in the sequel, plus the story
line was hilarious. I loved it.
But then, I realized that I was overly focused on enjoying
the movie instead of food spotting, so I had very little written down.
Then I saw that IHOP had a special promo Addams family menu right
now, since there is a new animated Addams Family coming out. I remembered a breakfast scene or two in the
movies (though they contained mystery meat, not pancakes), and decided to take
my inspiration from IHOP and make Addams Family pancakes.
For these, simply make your favorite buttermilk pancakes and
top them with a simple icing and chocolate syrup to make a spider web. If you’re IHOP, you top it with a violently
purple whipped cream. I decided to make
an attempt at something healthy in this meal, and topped mine with a blackberry. Spud decided that the berry was a big fat
spider on his web – sounds good to me!
Addams Family Pancakes
Inspired by IHOP
1 batch of your favorite pancakes (I made MultigrainPancakes)
½ cup powdered sugar
1-2 teaspoons milk
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
Chocolate syrup
Blackberries
Make pancakes according to recipe instructions.
Stir together the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Add just enough milk to make a thick frosting.
Frost the top pancake.
Drizzle chocolate syrup in a spiral, then drag a toothpick through the syrup
to make a web shape. Top with a blackberry.
Thanks for joining this month. I'm glad to hear you liked the movies. Pancakes are always a great idea, and I love the fact you managed to tie it into the new released animated film too. -Kimberly (Coffee and Casseroles)
ReplyDeleteOkay, these look great! I don't make pancakes very often. But they might be on my list this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThese are cute, perfect way to start any day during the spooky season. With the addition of a few real cobwebs, I can see them right on the Addams' table ;).
ReplyDeleteGlad you didn't go with the neon purple toppings from those IHOP ads. These look amazing!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great breakfast to serve up to the kids during Halloween Month.
