Heyo!
It’s National Beer Day!
Ok confession time.
I’m way more of a wine drinker than a beer drinker.
However, I do love to cook with beer, especially beers brats –
I don’t make them any other way!
I shared my fantastic recipe for Bacon Wrapped Beer Brats a
couple years ago – and they’re super delicious, but labor intensive and Hibs
doesn’t like all the bacon flare ups on the grill. So I typically simplify the process and make
beer brats with just 4 ingredients!
The whole family loves these brats (though admittedly, the
kids pass on the caramelized onions) and they’re a summer staple!
Beer Brats with Caramelized Onions
1 pound uncooked brats
1 (12 ounces) can or bottle of light or amber beer
1 small onion, sliced
½ teaspoon sriracha, or to taste
Hot dog buns
Place the brats in a skillet.
Arranged onions all around.
Drizzle with sriracha, and pour beer over the top. Simmer, turning occasionally for 15-20
minutes or until cooked through.
Meanwhile, preheat the outdoor grill or prepare a wood
fire. Grill the brats.
While the brats grill, continue cooking the beer and onions
until the beer is cooked off and the onions caramelize.
Place grilled brats in the hot dog buns and top with
caramelized onions (add ketchup and sriracha as optional toppings!)
