As the years go by,
Thanksgiving has become my favorite holiday.
Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing that magic of Christmas through my
children’s eyes and celebrating Our Lord’s death and resurrection at Easter,
but there’s just something about Thanksgiving that I love.
I think it’s the family
togetherness without all of the extras.
It’s just a chance to focus on being together with Santa & the
Easter Bunny vying for attention.
Since Christmas usually gets
all the baking attention, I decided to few other fun treats just for
Thanksgiving! Not that these are
actually baked. In fact, they’re fun,
easy no bake treats that are little helper friendly!
First up are the little acorn
cookies. They’re nothing new, of course,
they’re all over Pinterest (also, if you’re the creative person who originally
came from, let me know, I’d be happy to give you credit).
In this version, I used
Pumpkin Spice Kisses and used melted chocolate chips to glue mini Oreos and
mini Golden Oreos to the flat end. Once
those were dry, I used more melted chocolate to add a chocolate chip stem to
each one. Dude & Spud had a blast
making these! I had only intended to
make a few, but they had such fun, we ended up using the entire bag of pumpkin
spice kisses!
The other treats are super fun
little Turkey Legs!! I mean, how cute
are these? I got the idea from a vendor
at a local craft fair and seriously, how could I not make these?
They’re also quite
simple. I just took some pretzel twists
and worked some caramels around each one in the shape of a turkey leg (I heated
the caramels for a couple seconds in the microwave to make them more
pliable). Once all of the turkey legs
were formed, I simply dipped them in dark chocolate and allowed them to set!
Oh my goodness! These are too cute! My kids would love them! Thanks for sharing! Also wanted to let you know about a new linky party starting this Saturday at 8pm called “Found & Foraged” Can’t wait to party with you at http://www.houseofhipsters.com
