Pirate Ship Cake

This post first appeared on my other blog in 2013, but since I no longer maintain that one, I'm reposting some of my favorites here!

Anyone else have the Pirates of the Caribbean song going through their head right now?  No?  Just me?  Alright then...

A couple weeks ago, my older son turned five, FIVE (2025 addition - he's 17 now!)  It’s so hard to believe I already have a five year old.  It seems like just yesterday, I was bringing a little 4 pound bundle home from the hospital!  Well, my little bundle of joy has grown up into such a funny, intelligent little boy!

At first, he wanted a Minnie Mouse Cake after I made the Minnie cake for my friend.

But since 5 year olds often change their minds, eventually he settled on pirates with a pirate ship cake.

To make his pirate ship cake, I used the same baking and carving method as I did with the Xylosaurus Cake, only carving the cake into a ship instead of a dinosaur.  I used Rich Chocolate cake, Chocolate MM Fondant, and just a little bit of MM fondant for the details!
