Chive Blossom Vinegar

I recently learned that Chive Blossom Vinegar was a thing.

I happen to have chives growing in my yard that absolutely love to blossom, so I was super intrigued by this gorgeous hot pink vinegar!

This simple recipe is all about infusing vinegar with the light oniony flavor of chives and since the blossoms are used, a gorgeous color comes along with it!

This is a super fun way to use up chive blossoms and make a custom infused vinegar to boot!  It's a win-win!

Chive Blossom Vinegar (Hot Vinegar Method)

Recipe from Spruce Eats

¾ cup fresh chive blossoms (fully bloomed)

1 cup white vinegar

Rinse the chive blossoms.  Dry and place in a small lidded jar.

Place the vinegar in a small saucepan over medium heat.  Heat until steaming (not boiling).

Pour the hot vinegar over the chive blossoms.  Tightly close the lid.  Store for 3 days in a cool area away from direct light.

After 3 days, strain out the blossoms and store the vinegar in a fresh jar.

Use in place of regular vinegar in marinades and dressings.
