For this month's Movies & Munchies, participants were invited to watch the 90’s classic, A League of Their Own, which follows the WWII era women’s baseball league.
It is an enjoyable movie, with the iconic “There’s no crying in baseball” but alas, there is not much food. There are ample cocktails and some game hot dogs, but that’s about it.
I thought about making some ballpark classics, but I already have a Chicago Dog, Corn Dogs, and even Cracker Jacks.
So then I decided to round up some of my favorite baseball recipes including a Baseball Tortilla Pizza, and 3 baseball cakes because Spud is a baseball fan…
Then I looked in the archives and realized I’ve only shared one of those cakes (a Baseball Stadium cake) on the blog! Who knows how I forgot to share the others.
So let’s rewind 3 years to the ultimate birthday cake.
Spud wanted a baseball stadium cake, in the shape of a diamond, with his baseball guys (which I painstakingly hand painted, because they didn't have the right colored jerseys). And then, to top it all off (because Hubs was out of town and I was a total pushover), sparklers as well as candles. If you could have seen the smile on his face! Priceless!
Pretty spectacular cake, Amy. Not sure why I have to comment as "unknown"? Thanks for playing. Debra Eliot's Eats
