Today’s Xbox cake is for a 15 year old Xbox fan. My own, in fact!
I recently realized that it’s been 7 years since Dude requested a cake design (me and Spud have been designing since…mostly be (Spud designed last year’s Minecraft cake)).
It’s rather tricky designing a cake for someone with no guidance year after year. Sure, I could just make a plain cake, but as a cake decorator (even a hobbyist like me), it’s so hard to just make a plain cake!
This year, however, I knew I had a winner with the Xbox cake. Last year, Dude used his Christmas and Birthday money to buy himself an Xbox and works to finish homework and piano practice each day so he can have time to play his games.
The cake itself was his favorite (Chocolate cake with Chocolate Frosting). I used dark chocolate cocoa powder in this recipe so the chocolate frosting looked black without needing to use any black food dye. Then I created the Xbox logo with marshmallow fondant.
