Dark Mojito #cookoutweek #FoodnFlix

It’s #CookoutWeek Day 3 and today’s recipe is joining forces (at the last minute) with Food ‘n Flix!

This month, Evelyne from CulturEatz chose the movie Volver.

The movie is set in Spain and stars Penelope Cruz and guys.  It is a weird, weird movie.  I can’t even begin to give a synopsis, because it’s out there.  Also subtitles.

What I did get was mojitos.  And a middle of the night body dump.  And also I only had dark rum.  Therefore, dark mojitos!

So admission time, I’ve never actually had a mojito before and this is kind of a cheater mojito because I used sprite instead of lime + club soda.  Also, the dark rum kinda takes over here, with the mint taking a back seat.  Regardless, it’s totally delicious and the perfect addition to a backyard BBQ!

Ice

Place the mint leaves, sugar, and lime juice in the bottom of a cup.  Use a spoon with a rounded handle to muddle the leaves.  Add ice, rum, and sprite and enjoy!

  7. A dark mojito for an at-times dark film--perfect! I love any kind of mojito and think changing up the classic is fun and not cheating. ;-)
