Today I have my second Food ‘n Flix submission for HotelTransylvania 2 (this month’s flick is hosted by Kimberly at Coffee and Casseroles). You can get my full run
down of the movie with all the deets on my first post, Monster Ball Soup!
In the movie, Mavis (a vampire, Dracula’s daughter) is
visiting the human world with her husband, Johnny. Since they can only be out at night, their
first stop is a 24-hour convenience store.
Mavis is amazed by the chip selection, security cameras, and the giant
wall of slurpees!
I definitely wanted to try my hand at slurpees, especially
since it’s been so ridiculously hot!
These slurpees are so fun!
They’re also insanely sweet (like the real deal) so a small slurpee is
all we needed. The boys and I had fun
dressing up our slurpees with umbrellas.
Plus, these slurpees are totally customizable. You can make these with any kind of Jell-O
and pop (or soda depending where you’re from) or if you’re serving adults, feel
free to spike them with your favorite booze!
Strawberry-Lemonade
Slurpee
Adapted from This Silly Girl’s Kitchen
1 (3oz) box strawberry Jell-O
1 cup boiling water
½ cup lemon-lime soda
½ cup pink lemonade
2 – 2 ½ cups lemon-lime soda or pink lemonade
¼ cup vodka or rum, optional
Place the boiling water and Jell-O in an 8x8 lidded glass
container. Mix until the Jell-O is
dissolved.
Stir in the lemon-lime soda and lemonade. Cover and freeze for 4 hours or until solid.
Scoop the frozen Jell-O into a blender, add the soda or lemonade
(and vodka, if using) and blend until smooth, adding additional liquid, if
desired.
Pour into small cups and top with cocktail umbrellas.
Serves about 6 (though depends upon the size of glasses being
used)
That is a great scene to get inspired by. It looks like the perfect thing to have in the heat of any night. -Kimberly (Coffee and Casseroles)
ReplyDeleteHomemade slurpees are the best - perfect way to cool down in the summer. Another fun idea for this month!
ReplyDeletePerfect Amy....I am making my submission next week.
ReplyDeleteNice. And these could be so versatile, like you said, perfect for customization! .
