I have one final delicious
recipe before the big game this weekend!
No Super Bowl party is
complete without chips, but why buy the dip?
This year, make you own chip
dip! Caramelized Onion Dip is a twist on
the classic onion dip. The caramelized onions
add an amazing depth of flavor that will keep your guests coming back for more!
Not a potato chip fan? Then grab some tortilla chips and don’t
forget the salsa!
Recipe Notes:
*For a bigger impact, try serving the dip in a homemade bread bowl.
Caramelized Onion Dip
Adapted from Food Network
1 tbsp canola oil
2 cup thinly sliced white
onions
¾ cup mayo with olive oil
¾ cup sour cream
2 green onions, white and
green parts thinly sliced
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
Heat the oil in a medium sized
skillet over medium heat. Add the
onions; stir to coat. Cook the onions
for 2-3 minutes or until slightly tender.
Reduce the heat to medium
low. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally
until the onions reach a rich amber color, 20-30 minutes, stirring constantly during
the last 5 minutes or so.
Place the caramelized onions
in a bowl and set aside to cool.
In a medium sized bowl, whisk
together the mayo and sour cream. Stir
in the cooled caramelized onions, green onions, salt, and pepper.
Cover the dip and place in the
refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight to let the flavors blend
together.
Just before serving, garnish
with additional green onions. Serve with
potato chips or crusty bread.
Ooooh this looks dangerouuuuus :P
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this sounds amazing! This is the kind of dip that people put huge globs of on their chip. I will definitely be trying this, thanks for sharing!

That looks amazing! And the great thing is that several people at the Super Bowl party don't like onions, so more for me! :)
ReplyDeleteYUM!! Pinning, thanks for sharing!! Have a great weekend :)

Ooh, that looks divine. I really wish my family liked onions. If I made this, I'd be forced to eat it all myself. Maybe I should go ahead and make it? ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to What's Cookin' Wednesday!
I love caramelized onions!!!
