Easter Egg Hunt Lunch

My boys are intrigued by those little plastic Easter Eggs, so I took some inspiration from Gluesticks, and turned lunch into an Easter Egg hunt.

I filled the egg with lunch items (I cut some of the food into flower shapes, since they boys loved the hearts so much on Valentine’s Day).  We had cucumbers, cheese, Nutella sandwiches, grapes, yogurt covered raisins, and Space Goldfish crackers (have you seen these things?  They’re pretty much awesome.)  I also had an extra dozen eggs filled with more sandwiches and lots of grapes (my boys love grapes).

The white eggs had a little something special.

Since more seasonal March weather (42 degrees & cloudy) had returned, I hid the eggs around our dining room.  Then I gave each boy a basket and let them loose!

They took the baskets over to a plastic table cloth I laid on the floor and we had an Easter Egg picnic.

They loved finding a surprise in each egg!

The aftermath:

This is a fun activity to do with kids and it is a fun break from the normal lunchtime routine.  I think we’ll be having a few more egg hunts before (and maybe after) Easter!
